Accountant I, Zakat and tax  محاسب أول الزكاة والضريبة

Coordinates with GAZT tax filing consultants to prepare annual GAZT return for each calendar year which is submitted by end of April in the following year being reported. All necessary schedules, details and backups are submitted to GAZT through electronic filing.
Ensures that the amounts due for zakat or tax liability calculated based on annual return are settled through Treasury with filing of return, to avoid penalty.
Necessary coordination and follow up with GAZT authorities and consultants for the Zakat certificate.
Provide timely feedback on electronic correspondences with GAZT website or otherwise with relevant information as required.
Comply with all audit requirement of GAZT and follow up for the assessment clearance certificate.
Ensure timely and accurate recording and reporting of the withholding tax on the applicable business transactions through GAZT website on monthly basis.
Coordination with AP and Treasury functions for the necessary monthly reporting and SADAD or otherwise payment settlement of withholding taxes to avoid penalty by GAZT.
Filing electronically and follow up on annual with holding tax return/ adjustments/ reimbursement etc. as required.
Liaison with budgeting team for proper budget & Plan data with Tax & Zakat prospective impact during budget preparation and approval process.
Maintain proper documentary / soft copies of the relevant forms, returns and records for audit tracking and management review or reference.
Coordinate with auditors/ professional consultants for acquiring and maintaining records up to date information on laws and regulations by GAZT applicable to Sahara & its affiliates like with holding tax income tax, VAT , Zakat or any such levies by Governing authorities from time to time.
Responsible for the recording, reporting and compliance of the VAT laws and regulations announced by GAZT.
Keep the management aware of such changes having impact on business cash flows on timely basis through SH.
Review and provide feedback/ support on existing and new business agreements having withholding tax or other deductions, charges, recoveries or cost impact and relevant reporting compliance requirement.
Coordinate with GL and other teams for proper accrual during monthly closing
Conducting gap analysis on regular basis to strengthen internal control framework and to subsequently amend the policies and procedures related to zakat & tax administration, as necessary.
Effective implementation and application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) which involves gap analysis, preparation of technical working papers on highlighted gaps, selection of appropriate accounting policies & computation of resultant retrospective impact on group’s financial statements.
Adhere to IFRS & Sahara consolidated accounting policy manual, and adhering to any new standards and adopting any changes required related to zakat & taxes
Liaison with Information Technology department related to new accounting business needs in wake of changing reporting requirements along with ongoing ad hoc projects.
Assist in maintaining SAP system & liaison with IT help desk for smooth functioning of SAP through a ticketing system on any matter related to zakat & tax recording / reporting.

* Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

Provide general administrative and clerical support including but not limited to mailing, scanning, faxing and copying to management
Answer general phone inquiries using a professional and courteous manner
Direct phone inquires to the appropriate staff members
Reply to general information requests with the accurate information
Use computer word processing, spreadsheet, and database software to prepare reports, memos, and documents
Sort incoming mail, faxes, and courier deliveries for distribution
Prepare and send outgoing faxes, mail, and courier parcels
Forward incoming general e-mails to the appropriate staff member
Forward voice mail from the general mailbox to the appropriate staff member
Purchase, receive and store the office supplies ensuring that basic supplies are always available
Code and file material according to the established procedures
Update and ensure the accuracy of the organization’s databases
Back-up electronic files using proper procedures
Provide secretarial and administrative support to management and other staff
Make travel, meeting and other arrangements for staff
Coordinate the maintenance of office equipment
Performs all other related duties as assigned
