Qualification and Experience

Bachelor degree in Health Information Management, with 4 years of experience.

Master degree in Health Information Management, with 2 years of experience.

Position Purpose

Responsible for HIM system and applications. Compile, process, and maintain medical records of Hospital patients in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Monitors the functioning of the archived electronic records system as well as other HIM computer applications. Assures that each archived electronic record is properly configured. Performs monitoring and follow up to assure accurate interface between systems.
Assures that programs are created and correct privileges are assigned. Responsible for adding/changing/deleting users on the electronic record system. Maintains documentation for all archived electronic records users’ management functions.
Participates in, and reports on, post implementation audits to evaluate and maintain maximum system usage and benefits. Develops and implements quality control procedures to assure effective functioning and maintenance of the archived electronic record system.
Participates in the evaluation and implementation of new system installs and releases, including testing, access, data output, workflow and process requirements, makes recommendations for system improvement.
Assists in the development and organization of education for health information and clinical staff by developing communication tools, departmental scripts and training materials.
Coordinates a variety of data management functions within the Health Information Management Department.
Participates in the orientation of staff member’s in computer theory, operations and functions, related to HIM systems.
Reviewing and improving clinical documentation in patient medical record.
Respects patients and their families to promote for a Patient-Centered Care culture.
Participates in and supports quality improvement and patient safety activities as an individual or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee’s knowledge, skills and abilities.
