وقالت القيادة المركزية الأميركية في بيان على منصة “إكس”: “نفذت هذه الضربة سفينة يو إس إس كارني (DDG 64) باستخدام صواريخ توماهوك للهجوم البري، وكانت بمثابة إجراء ضد هدف عسكري محدد مرتبط بالضربات التي تم شنها في 12 يناير بغرض إضعاف قدرة الحوثيين على مهاجمة السفن البحرية، بما في ذلك السفن التجارية”.
